Opening the
Files After Download
When you are ready to start working on your template, find the "Heritage" folder into which you downloaded the zip programs, templates and extras. Double click on the "E-Zip wizard" icon to open the zipped file. Click "Agree" under the terms. Choose the option of installing an icon for the e-Zip Wizard on your desktop. Install the software per the instructions. If the program asks you do you want to associate all zip files with this program, say yes unless you have a different unzipping software installed that you prefer to use for other zipped files. After installation is complete, open the e-Zip
Wizard program by clicking the icon on your desktop. If you
did not select the
"install icon to the desktop" option for the e-Zip Wizard, use the
search function to locate the E-Zip software exe file by typing in "ezip.exe.
When you start up the software it will ask you "Which Zip file do you want to work with?"
Go to the Heritage folder ( the path should be C:\Heritage\" ) and locate the zipped template which
will end in .zip. You only want to open files which end in .zip. Click the file, then click next or Unzip.( IMPORTANT: Keep everything that you unzip in the "Heritage" folder.) When the process is complete, you will have the option of going back to the "Heritage" folder or exiting. Check go to the folder and click "Next". If you followed the instructions and downloaded all of your files/templates into the Heritage folder, you will see the original zipped template, the unzipped E-zip files, the template you opened,
the sub-folder you created for the e-zip wizard program and any extra files that were included with your template. Most
customers have their computer set to automatically open Microsoft Office
documents. If you do, just click or double click on the template file that you want to open. Your copy of Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher will automatically start up.
If you do not have yours set so,
start up your copy of Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher. Select
"File" then select "Open" locate the Heritage folder,
locate your template and click on the name. Then, click okay. It should open
the unzipped template so that you can begin editing.
Do a "Save As" and rename the opened template immediately!! If you do not, you will overwrite the original template file and it will then be useless. File the new document in the "Heritage" folder you created. Close
the E-Zip Wizard, by clicking "Exit".

TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR DOWNLOAD
( 1) TEMPLATE
FAQ: Our website FAQ
(which we asked you to read before you ordered a template) clearly states these templates
can only be used with
Microsoft Word or Microsoft Publisher and must be unzipped
with the E-zip Wizard. They will not work with any other
software. It also includes instructions for
checking your computer to make sure that you have the
correct software installed
and a
link to our refund policy.
Hopefully, you read these pages before you made
this purchase.
If you chose not to read the FAQ or did
not follow the download instructions and have a problem because
you ignored that information, be advised that there is a limit to
what we can do to help you.
(2)
If the downloaded template
shows "0" megabytes, or the e-Zip Wizard software tells you that
the file is corrupt or empty when you try to open it it means that your anti-virus, anti-spy ware and firewall
software has interfered with the download. Please disable them all, and try the download again.
If you get the same message, contact
me immediately and explain the situation.
Remember to activate your computer protection software again.
(3) OUR TEMPLATES WORK SMOOTHLY FOR EVERY
CUSTOMER WITH THE CORRECT SOFTWARE INSTALLED ON THEIR COMPUTER USING
THE TEMPLATE AS IT IS INTENDED
. 99.8 times out of 100 when a customer writes
me to complain that they can not open a template or are having a problem
using the template - they either do not have the correct software installed
on their computer, did not follow the instructions or they are trying to use the template in a manner for
which it was not intended. None of this is our fault and does not mean our
template "does not work" or "can't be used."
(4)
If you are having a problem opening the
template or see garbled text after doing so it means that you do not have
the correct software on your computer. Check your IBM-compatible computer
(
http://www.family-heritage-templates.com/help_desk/check_computer.htm
) and make sure that you have a Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system with Microsoft Word 2000 or Microsoft
Publisher 2000 installed. Second, check the name of the template on your
Paypal order confirmation to make sure that you ordered the correct keepsake
template. If you discover that you made a mistake, contact me. We may
be able to assist you.
If you discover that you do not have either Word or Publisher on your computer, go here for information about
acquiring Word
or acquiring Publisher.

(5) If you downloaded the template but can not find it on your computer try the following quick search: Go to "Start" select "Find" or "Search" then select "Files or Folders". In the space under the text "search for files or folders named" type in
*.zip ( type first the asterisk symbol, then a period, then "zip"). This text is instructing your computer to do what is called a wildcard search and look for all files on your computer that have a zip extension on the end. Make sure the "Look In" box is set to check drive
C or your main hard drive if you have more than one drive in your computer. To do so, click on the down arrow in that box and select the "C" drive. Also, click on the box marked "Include Subfolders". At the end of the search, it will show all files with a zip extension that are on your computer. Click on the template file when you find it and make a note of where it is located. Use the installed e-Zip Wizard to locate and open the template. When you click on the name of the
unzipped template, the copy of Publisher or Word installed on your computer will open automatically.
If it does not, start up your copy of the software, locate the unzipped
template in your "Heritage" folder and open it from within the
software.
If none of the above searches turns up the template, your download was not complete and you do not have it on your computer. Be sure to read the FAQ, add our e-mail address to your white list or buddy list to make sure you can receive the download link. Then, NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY!! We will send you a new template download link.
